Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our plants, ordering process, and services below.

General:

  • How does the ordering process work? Order online in the Shop page, or, download a copy of Price it, populate it, then share back.
  • Want Planting? You will find planting fees detailed in the Price it docs. If you order online, we can calculate the planting pricing no problem – just let us know if you would like palnting.
  • Are your prices competitive? Yes! Our prices are competitive, plus we offer volume discounts and free local delivery to the Eastern Triangle Area.

Plants and Design:

  • Can I trust the quality of your plants? Absolutely! We have over 25 years of experience sourcing high-quality plants from reputable local growers. Our plants are 100% guaranteed for 14 days for initial quality, and then a two-year 50% warranty applies.
  • How does Price it help with landscape design? Price it has some helpful features: there are links to Google Images for visual inspiration, and each plant listing includes detailed information (sun/shade, water needs, etc.).
  • What’s the difference between “Initial Height” and “Mature Height”? “Initial Height” is the current height of the plant. “Mature Height” is the estimated height the plant will reach in 10-20 years. Keep Mature Height in mind as you design.
  • How do I space plants in a privacy screen? Use the Mature Width listed on Price it as a guide. For a good screen (not instant), space plants at half their Mature Width. For a hedge, use one-third of the Mature Width (still not instant).
  • Do you have deer-resistant plants? No plant is completely deer-proof. Deer will eat almost anything when hungry enough, and can cause damage even by rubbing on bark or trampling.
  • When is the best time to plant? The best time to plant is generally from October to May (fall and winter are ideal most plants). Spring is good, but be sure to water frequently during hot, dry periods.
  • How do I plant my new plants? See our Planting Advice page.
  • How much should I water my plants? See our Watering Advice page.

More About Our Plants:

  • What does “gallon” size mean? “gallon” refers to the nominal size of the pot your plants arrive in. It’s not a precise gallon measurement.
  • What is “Balled and Burlapped” (B&B)? B&B is a harvesting method where the root ball is freshly dug up (balled), then wrapped in burlap. Generally, no B&B sales, as they have a lower survival rate. However, we do sell “B&B in pots” which refers to potted-up B&B, that have developed roots within a larger pot.
  • “Evergreen” = Plant that keeps it’s foliage year-round.
  • “Deciduous” = Plant that drops it’s foliage every fall.
  • “Caliper” = Diameter of plant stem, measured about 6″ above the rootball. Caliper is used as a measure for many trees.
  • “MS” = Multi-Stem plant (like most Crape Myrtles).
  • “SS” = Single Stem plant.
  • “Tree Form” = lower limbs are removed (limbed up).
  • “Standard” = plant is both Single Stem & Tree Form.

Delivery and Services:

  • Are quotes provided quickly? We aim to provide quotes within the same day. If you haven’t heard from us within 24 hours, please check your spam or trash folder. If you still don’t see it, please call us at 919-266-7939.
  • How soon can I get my plants delivered? Delivery is typically within 3-10 business days of order confirmation. Add about a week if Greene Giant planting requested.
  • How do you deliver plants? We personally pick up plants from our growers and deliver them to you. We do not use 3rd party shipping services, like USPS or FedEx.
  • Do you just drop plants on the driveway? No, we will carry or cart your plants to your desired planting location, provided there is reasonable access and terrain.
  • Can I see the plants before they’re delivered? No. Because we work with local growers, we don’t have a central location where you can view all the plants. This allows us to offer the freshest, highest-quality plants directly from the source. We encourage you to use the Google Images links on Price it to get a good idea of what the plants should look like.
  • Do you offer planting services? Yes! We partner with Greene Giant Landscaping for professional planting services. See the “Planting Fees” section below for pricing. Price it pages show optional fees.
